New Library

The new St. George Library opened today. Since I was at the Library a Newspaper reporter took my picture while I was sitting at the Computer. He asked me what my name was, so there is a chance that my picture may appear in the Newspaper tomorrow. The New Library is much larger than the old one. Since there is more room on the book-shelves, I hope they begin adding new books. Also I would like to see them expand the hours.

My daughter called me on the phone today! It was great to hear her voice! We wished each other a Merry Christmas! Needless to say, I am proud of my daughter!

Let's bring the troops home from Iraq. I opposed this Unjust War from the beginning. I also opposed the Gulf War back in 1991. I'm not a Pacifist, but I hate seeing our Country destroyed through senseless and costly Wars!

Endorsement

I usually don't endorse Candidates this early, however I am endorsing John Edwards for President. Although Mr. Edwards probably won't make an announcement until later this month, I believe that it is not too early to show support for his potential candidacy. I supported Mr. Edwards in 2004, because of his message of Compassion for The Poor and his ability to get his message across. I also admire Mr. Edwards because he has the courage to admit that granting President Bush the power to use force in Iraq was a tragic mistake! I hope my readers will also consider endorsing Mr. Edwards for President.

Cordially, Kris Ballard

Yesterday I played in the Igor Ivanov Chess Tournament. I won 2 games and lost 3. This is the 2nd Chess Tournament that I have played in.

Land Bill

I have good news to report. I just received News that Senator Bennett has given up on trying to sneak the Washington County Land Bill through Congress this Session! The Citizens of Washington County, Utah, deserve credit for opposing this Land Grab!

Marcus Borg

I'm reading an interesting book by Marcus Borg about Jesus. I can't remember the exact title of the Book, but Mr. Borg has some Religious Ideas that deserve consideration.

Knowledge

Aim for knowledge. If you become poor it will be wealth for you: if you become rich it will adorn you.

El Zubeir son of Abu-Bakr

Knowledge is better than wealth. You have to look after wealth; knowledge looks after you.

New Districts

It looks very likely that Utah will be getting a New Congressional Seat! The Republicans in Utah weren't interested in pushing for an extra Congressional Seat, until they realized that they weren't going to be in the Majority in the New Congress. Also the New Congress plans on giving Washington DC, a Congressional Seat, so there would be 437 seats in the House, instead of 435. These changes should take place within the next year or two.

Monday, November 27, 2006

District

There is a possibility that Utah will be awarded an additional Congressional District! I will be attending a meeting this evening, to see the maps that show the various proposals for Redistricting. That would be exciting if we could get an extra Congressional Seat!

More important than Politics, I was able to visit with my daughter the last few days!

Kind Words

Lately I have been receiving alot of Kind Words from People who voted for me in the Election! It's good to receive encouragement from my Community. Many are urging me to run for Public Office again.

Indonesia

It sounds like President Bush isn't too popular in Indonesia. I'm starting to like Indonesia.

Land Bill

During the Lame-Duck session of Congress, Greedy Land Speculators from Southern Utah are trying to get Congress to turn over 25,000 acres of Federal Land, to Private Development in Washington County, Utah! If any of my readers know anyone in Congress who is Environmentally Friendly, please tell them that the Citizens of Washington County, Utah, don't want this Land Bill!

It looks like the Bechtel Corporation has Cut and Run from Iraq. Too bad they were paid for work that they never completed!

CodePink

CodePink is a fantastic organization! Although I'm not a Lady, the Women in our area set up a local chapter, and have received Media Coverage. Here is the Website for the National Organization: http://CodePinkAlert.org.

I can't wait for the New Congress to take over! Although I know that they won't be able to correct everything, at least there will be some improvement!

Time-Tables

President Bush says that he doesn't want Time-Tables for bringing the Troops home. Sorry, but the Gravy-Train for Halliburton is coming to an end!

Tuesday, November 14, 2006

Iraq

Let's bring the Troops home from Iraq! The Republicans have spent enough Time, Treasure, and Lives, on their Military Adventure! I suggest a careful auditing of Halliburton's books by the new Congress. Also Blackwater Security, and others, should be scrutinized.

Washington County

There is so much going on, in Washington County, Utah! Here are a couple of links about the rapid, uncontrollable growth our area is facing: http://CitizensForDixie.org, and http://VisionDixie.org.

Here is a link for helping our kids have a good Christmas: http://CoinsForKids.net.

Veterans Day

Yesterday was Veterans Day. The College Democrats marched in the Veterans Day Parade. Although I'm not in College, they let me help carry their banner! It was good to keep the Democratic Message in front of the People!

It's great that we were able to take control of Congress! Here in Utah, we struggled! The only place that Democrats seem to do well in Utah, is in Salt Lake County! I will not rest until Democrats begin doing well in Southern Utah as well!

Friday, November 10, 2006

Denver

I think the 2008 Democratic National Convention should be held in Denver. What do my readers think?

Thursday, November 09, 2006

Final Results

Although I lost my Election, I still feel like a Winner! I received 6,329 Votes! The Incumbent took 69% of the Vote, I received 24%, and the Independent Candidate followed with 5%.

Campaigning

I have been doing alot of Campaigning, since tomorrow is the Election! The Honk and Wave, has been working real well! Tomorrow, some of us Democrats are going to have an Election Party, at the Coral Hills Motel, starting at 8 PM!

Saturday, November 04, 2006

Three more days!

There is so much going on with my Campaign, I don't know where to begin! This morning, and yesterday evening I did the Honk and Wave. Also, this morning I did the Alzheimers Memory Walk. This Memory Walk raised $22,000, for People who suffer from Alzheimers. The Team, I was on (Democrats of Southern Utah) , raised more Money ($600) , than any other Team! On Thursday Evening, I attended a Meet the Candidates Event, at the SunRiver Community Center. Although there weren't many People there, I was able to meet some highly motivated Seniors, who are looking for Good Government! On top of all this, I moved to a different Apartment (i.e. Room) yesterday!

Radio Interview

Today I did my Radio Interview. I was a bit nervous, since I couldn't see my Audience, but many People told me I did well. Even the guys at work, listened to the Interview. Since it was a Call in Show, I had to answer alot of phone calls, from listeners. After the Interview, I participated in a Peace March in St. George. There was probably about 50 of us, in the March. Also an article was published about me, in the Spectrum Newspaper today. My Mothers Letter to the Editor, in support of my candidacy, was also published in the Spectrum.

Tuesday, October 31, 2006

The Spectrum

A Newspaper Reporter called me today, and interviewed me over the telephone. He said an article about me, will appear in the Spectrum Newspaper, tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will be interviewed on the Radio, for 30 minutes. Wish me Luck!

Monday, October 30, 2006

Questions

The St. George Spectrum (Newspaper) sent me 4 questions they wanted me to answer about my Political Campaign. I finished my answers, and they will be published in the Newspaper.

My Mother wrote a letter to the Spectrum, supporting my Candidacy. They called her, and said they will be publishing her letter.

Campaign Signs

I just finished putting up 25 Campaign Signs! Also, I will also be running an Advertisement in the Dixie Weekly, and the Hurricane Valley Journal.

Yesterday, I attended the What Women Want Expo. The reason I went to the Expo, was to visit the Code Pink booth! For those who don't know what Code Pink is about, they are a group of Ladies, with Chapters all across the Nation, who want to bring the troops home from Iraq! The Women at the Booth, asked me to leave some of my Campaign Flyers on their table.

I have been speaking at alot of debates lately. On Monday, I was at the Rotary Club Luncheon Debate. On Wednesday, I was at the AOPC Debate. Many People told me that they thought I did a good job.

Last Tuesday, I became a member of the St. George Elks Lodge. I look forward to being of service to others!

Saturday, October 21, 2006

Honk and Wave

I started doing the Honk and Wave, with my 3 foot x 3 foot campaign sign, yesterday and today. The response has been good!

Today I tried to do some volunteer doorbelling for Pete Ashdown's Senatorial Race. However, I was unable to do so, since the person who was supposed to show up with the flyers, never did. It wasn't a complete waste of time, since I was able to inform the other Volunteers about my Campaign for County Commissioner, and show them my Honk and Wave Sign!

I have also been helping Don Miller, who is running for the State Legislature, put up his Campaign Signs! I heard that he was doing the Honk and Wave for his Campaign yesterday.

Friday, October 20, 2006

Chamber of Commerce

Last Wednesday I took part in a Candidates Forum sponsored by The St. George Chamber of Commerce. My Political Opponent for the position of County Commissioner, was also there. I made a good showing, but was saddened when my Opponent had a meltdown after I finished answering a question about the proposed Lake Powell Pipeline. He began berating me and telling me that I didn't know what I was talking about. It was amazing that the Audience of about 100 People weren't able to hear him. If they had, they would realize how truly psychotic that Fellow actually is! Yesterday, when the Newspaper article of the event was published, the Newspaper Reporter misquoted me on a very important point! I called to have the matter clarified, and a retraction was carried in todays Newspaper!

Saturday, October 14, 2006

Campaign Website

Please visit my Campaign Website: http://KrisBallard.com. If you read my Blog, and my Website, you can get some insight into what a Grass-Roots Campaign for Political Office, looks like! There are only 24 days left, until the election!

Yesterday I attended the Grand Opening of Congressman Jim Matheson's, St. George Campaign Headquarters. The event was well attended, and the Congressman, was in attendance.

Although I have included this Website in my Blog previously: http://SoldiersPeace.com, I must post it again as a special tribute to a true Patriot! Keep up the good work, Marshall Thompson!

Thursday, October 12, 2006

Pete Ashdown

Yesterday, Pete Ashdown had his first debate with Orrin Hatch. Since I was working, I was unable to attend this important event. This morning however, I read the Newspaper Report in the St. George Spectrum Newspaper. It sounds as if Pete, pretty well stomped Orrin! I just hope the Voters of Utah, will wake up and realize what a Great Candidate for the U.S. Senate, that Pete Ashdown is!

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

Campaign Sign

I'm having a 3 Foot x 3 Foot Campaign Sign made up! This will be perfect for when I do Honk and Waves! Also, I'm having 125 more Campaign Flyers made up! These will be 2 sided Flyers. The first side will be the same as my Regular Flyer, but the other side will let People know about my Radio Interview on November 1st!

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Yesterday

Yesterday, I went Door-Belling with my Campaign Flyers, and was warmly received by the Voters! This morning I also handed out some of my Flyers to my Friends, who always drink Coffee at the Grocery Store. One time, these Fellows even bought me Hot Chocolate, since I don't drink Coffee! Tonight, I'm going to go Door-Belling again!

Monday, October 09, 2006

Rain

There sure has been alot of Rain lately in St. George, Utah! It rained alot today, and there was also alot of Rain, last Friday!

I'm going to start Door-Belling with my Campaign Flyers tonight. My Political Opponent is starting to put up Very Large Political Signs around the Area. Everyone, please wish me Luck in my Grass-Roots Campaign for County Commissioner! There are only 29 days until Election Day!

Saturday, October 07, 2006

Sorghum

I marched in the Sorghum Parade today! This was a small Parade, so I didn't run out of Candy. My Mom marched in the Parade with me, and my Campaign Manager drove my Truck. This will probably be the last Parade I march in, before the Elections, unless there is one coming up that I don't know about.

Yesterday I had 300 Campaign Flyers copied off. On Monday I'm going to begin Door-Belling!

Thursday, October 05, 2006

Interview

My Radio Interview will be on November 1st, at 9 AM, on KDXU! I will be on the Mike McGary Show.

I will be in the Sorghum Parade this Saturday! Although I have never seen Sorghum, it is supposed to be similar to Corn.

Yesterday, I visited Congressman Mathesons new St. George, Campaign Headquarters. Although the Official Grand Opening is later, it was good to get a Sneak-Preview. Several other volunteers, were there also. The Home-Made Chocolate-Chip Cookies that were served, made the Meeting especially memorable!

Monday, October 02, 2006

Radio Interview

I just received word that a Local Radio Station wants to do a 30 minute interview with me! I sent them a return Email, telling them that I will be there! They want to interview me, sometime between October 30th, and November 3rd.

Family Values

If Congressman Mark Foley represents Republican Family Values, the Republican Party needs to do some serious Soul-Searching!

Thursday, September 28, 2006

Sorghum Parade

I will be marching in the Sorghum Parade on October 7th. Since it is a small Parade, they won't be announcing the entries over the Loud Speakers. I look forward to meeting the Voters in LaVerkin, Utah, in this Parade!

Wednesday, September 27, 2006

Panic Mode

The Republicans are in Panic Mode in Southern Utah! They sent a bunch of their Politicians on a Red Bus, to tour Iron, and Washington County, Utah! They made seven stops, but were outflanked by Democrats who had set up signs of their own! At Dixie State College, in St. George, the Republicans were shocked to discover that the Student Democratic Club had scheduled to have a booth at the College for the entire week! Not only that, the College Democrats served Free Pizza this Evening, and signed up 20 New Members! If the Republicans are having a tough time in Southern Utah, they must be even more vulnerable Nation-Wide, than I originally thought!

Tuesday, September 26, 2006

Candidates Forums

I have been asked to participate in several Candidates Forums in October! I look forward to meeting the Voters at these events! Yesterday I turned in a 250 word biography to the Chamber of Commerce. When they first asked me for it, 250 words seemed like alot. After I wrote it, 250 words didn't seem like nearly enough. They said they were going to put my biography on a Program they were preparing for their Candidates Forum.

Swiss Days Parade

Yesterday I marched in the Swiss Days Parade, in Santa Clara, Utah! The Parade turned out much better than I had hoped! I handed out 72 pints of bottled water, and 15 pounds of candy. I ran out of Water and Candy, half-way through the Parade, so I started waving to the Crowd. The warm response from the crowd was inspiring! It's hard to believe that there are only 44 days until the Election!

Thursday, September 21, 2006

Horses

Tonight I will be attending a meeting for the BackCountry Horsemen. This is a group of People who like the Open Spaces for riding their Horses! Although I don't ride Horses, and am not a member of their group, I share their goal of preserving Wilderness, in Washington County, Utah!

Tuesday, September 19, 2006

Swiss Days

On Saturday I will be marching in the Swiss Days Parade in Santa Clara! I'm looking forward to this opportunity to inform the Public about my Campaign for Washington County Commissioner!

Yesterday I attended a Congressional Debate in Hurricane. I wasn't expecting to speak at this meeting, but I was asked to take the microphone, and tell everyone about my Political Campaign! I stumbled a little in expressing myself, but mentioned my opposition to the 2006 Growth and Conservation Act! I will have to be more prepared in the future!

Also I attended a Democratic Luncheon yesterday, and handed out over a dozen of my Political Buttons. I raised $50 dollars in Campaign Contributions yesterday at the Luncheon!

Sunday, September 17, 2006

Rodeo Parade

The Rodeo Parade went well yesterday. My Campaign for County Commissioner was entry #76. The Announcers, announced the script I had prepared, on every block. One of the Announcers even had fun with my proposal for High Wages! I was warmly received by the Crowd, and I'm certain that handing out 120 pints of bottled water, and 20 pounds of candy, had nothing to do with it!

Here is a Courageous Soldier that I admire: http://soldierspeace.com!

Thursday, September 14, 2006

Parade

Today I received a phone call from a gentleman, who said that my Campaign Display would be #76th, out of about #100, in the Rodeo Parade on Saturday!

Tuesday, September 12, 2006

Buttons

I was handing out my Political Buttons at Work today, and some of the Guys were wearing them, at Work! In a about 15 minutes I will be showing my Buttons to my friends at the St. George Chess Center.

A small correction from Yesterday's Post. I will actually be handing out 96 pints of bottled water, at the Rodeo Parade!

Monday, September 11, 2006

Political Buttons

My Political Buttons arrived today! They look pretty darn good, if I may say so myself! I had 100 made up.

I'm getting ready for the Rodeo Parade on Saturday. My Campaign Volunteers and I, will be handing out 72 pints of bottled water, and 20 pounds of candy! I know the Parade will be a big success, and will help to inform the Public about my Campaign for County Commissioner!

Saturday, September 09, 2006

Veyo

Tonight I will be going over to the Town of Veyo, to attend a Barbeque. I should be able to hand out, some of my Political Flyers there!

I'm getting ready for the Rodeo Parade that will take place a week from today! I have bought Candy for the kids who will line the Parade Route, and plan on handing out Bottled Water as well! My mother will ride in my Truck. My Campaign Manager, his Girl-Friend, and a Native American from Work, are already planning on Marching with me!

My Political Buttons still haven't arrived yet. My friends think it's a Conspiracy, but Star Sign and Banner says that it's a problem with UPS. They say the Buttons are being mailed in from Illinois.

Friday, September 08, 2006

Application

Today I turned in my Application for The Rodeo Parade. The Deadline was next Tuesday. I am looking forward to Advertising my Campaign for County Commissioner! Even my 1993, Toyota Truck, will be in the Parade!

Wednesday, September 06, 2006

Root Canal

I just finished having a Root Canal, 45 Minutes ago! The Dentist hasn't put the Crown on yet. However, there is too much blogging to be done, for me to be felled by a mere flesh wound!

I just got off the phone with a fellow who is in charge of The St. George Rodeo Parade! He gave me his Secretary's Phone Number, so I can reserve a spot in the the Parade, for my Political Campaign for Washington County Commissioner! The Parade will be on September 16th. I plan on calling his Secretary Tomorrow!

I recently finished reading about Jack Abramoff. The article I read was written back in April, but it was enough to turn my Stomach! If there is anyone who doesn't know who he is, Mr. Abramoff is one of the most Evil Political Operatives of the last 20 Years! His Political History traces back to dirty and illegal tricks, in Apartheid South Africa! How sad that the Republicans kept talking about Moral Values, as they were feeding in the trough of Mr. Abramoff's Dirty Money!

Saturday, September 02, 2006

Tammy Duckworth

I am very impressed with the strength of Democratic Candidates this Year! A good example is Tammy Duckworth who is running for Congress. Tammy was serving in the Military, when her Helicopter was shot down. She lost both of her legs, and one of her arms was damaged. Yet instead of thinking about her own challenges, she is running for Congress as a Democrat! Who better to have in Congress, to resolve the War in Iraq, than Tammy Duckworth: http://duckworthforcongress.com!

This morning I marched in the Peach Days Festival Parade, in support of Congressman Jim Matheson! I am now getting ready to hand out some of my own flyers, at the Festival, since I'm running for County Commissioner!

Friday, September 01, 2006

People

People are still talking about Rocky: http://rwcs.com/blog/?p=561!

Tomorrow I will be marching in the Peach Festival Parade, for Congressman "Jim Matheson". The Peach Festival is in Hurricane, and I plan on handing out some of my own Flyers, during the Festival! Of course I plan on eating a few Peaches, also!

SLC Mayor

Salt Lake City Mayor "Rocky Anderson," gave President Bush a Tongue-Lashing he won't soon forget: http://turntahoeblue.blogspot.com/2006/08/give-us-truth-give-us-truth-give-us.html!

Warren Jeffs, the Polygamist King-Pin was finally caught! He was in a Cadillac Escalade, and had $50,000 in cash! It looks like the Fellow has profited nicely, from his Harems!

Monday, August 28, 2006

Political Buttons

My Campaign Manager and I, finished designing my Political Buttons! They have my Picture on them, as well as the American Flag! They will be ready by September 5th!

President Bush will be visiting Salt Lake City on Wednesday. He is visiting, because the National American Legion Convention is being held there. Rocky Anderson, the Mayor of Salt Lake City, has been banned from speaking at the Convention, since he is opposed to the War in Iraq!

Saturday, August 26, 2006

Corn

Today I went to the Enterprise Corn Festival. I didn't hand out very many Flyers, but I intimidated alot of Republicans, with my Washington County Democrat Button! I also met Mrs. Swenson, an active Democrat. Her husband, RJ Swenson, writes alot of Letters to the Editor, in the Local Newspaper! Of course I had to get a bite to eat at the Corn Festival! I had a Pork Sandwich, and a Delicious Ear of Corn! I also brought a dozen Ears of Corn, home with me! Since I'm always Politicking, I also put up a Flyer on the Enterprise Library Bulletin Board, as well as the Santa Clara Library Bulletin Board!

Friday, August 25, 2006

Corn Festival

Tomorrow I am driving up to Enterprise, in order to do some Politicking at the Enterprise Corn Festival. Enterprise is located in a remote part of Washington County. I am looking forward to meeting the Voters out there!

Thursday, August 24, 2006

Mainstream Media

Yesterday a Local Television Reporter interviewed myself, and three other Democratic Candidates. When I returned home to listen to the 9PM News, the Story that was reported was a travesty! The "News Report" was framed in such a way, that our Democratic Candidates were made to appear foolish, for daring to compete with Republican Candidates in Southern Utah! Although I appreciate that they showed the interviews of the other three Democratic Candidates, what was the purpose of not showing my interview ?! As I have often said, the Mainstream Media, most definitely favors the Conservative Establishment!

Wednesday, August 23, 2006

Meet the Candidates

Today we had 4 of the Local Democratic Candidates, meet and speak with the Public at the St. George Public Library! The meeting went well, and I was interviewed by the Local News Station! My interview will appear on television at 9PM tonight. Also Pete Ashdown, a Candidate for the U.S. Senate, was represented by a Fellow Blogger named Ellie! There are going to be Exciting Elections this Year in Utah!

Monday, August 21, 2006

Religious Right

The Religious Right are trying to create a World, that even most of them, wouldn't be happy living in! Particularly frightening, are the Christian Reconstructionists. They are a group that favors Public Stonings! They want to replace Democracy with Theocracy! It is my hope that American Democracy will prove to be stronger than Christian Reconstructionism!

Thursday, August 17, 2006

Cell Phone

My Cell Phone hasn't been working, so I got a loaner phone. The Company I'm signed up with is Alltel. Talk about lousy Customer Service! Everyone was mad at them, when I was there! Fortunately my phone was still under Warranty, or I would have been out alot of Money!

It looks like Ned Lamont has put a Bee in the Bonnet of the Republican Party! How sad for them, that we don't allow them to nominate our Democratic Candidates!

Wednesday, August 16, 2006

Chess Center

Alan Crooks, the Owner of the St. George Chess Center, accepted the award for: Best Chess Club of the Year, from the U.S. Chess Federation! He traveled to Chicago to accept the Award! Alan also bought my Mother an English Ivy plant, in a little Ceramic Container, and had it delivered to her! No wonder the St. George Chess Center is so successful. It has to be, with such a thoughtful Owner!

Tuesday, August 15, 2006

Rocky

Rocky Anderson, the Mayor of Salt Lake City is going to protest President Bush, for the 2nd Year in a row! The Protest will occur on August 30th!

Here is an interesting Statistic! In 2004, John Kerry defeated President Bush in Salt Lake City: 58% to 42%!

Monday, August 14, 2006

Amazing

I had an amazing time at the County Fair! Although I am exhausted, I am sorry that it had to end on Saturday! I handed out many Political Flyers, and I was deeply touched by the Sincerity of the Citizens of Washington County!

My Campaign Manager and I, worked on designing my Political Button today. The only thing missing on the Button is my Picture. We plan on taking a suitable picture on Friday. I am going to take my glasses off for the picture, since I always seem to get alot of reflection off of them. I plan on having 100 Buttons made up!

Saturday, August 12, 2006

Politicking

I have been Politicking alot lately! Yesterday I was handing out Political Flyers at the County Fair, from 7PM-10PM. I had some Spirited Discussion with the People at the Libertarian Political Booth, and also spoke with People from the Constitution Party Booth. One thing that those Parties had in common with the Democratic Party, was to bring the American Soldiers home from Iraq! At the Republican Booth, my opponent was so scared, that he had Political Yard Signs posted there! The Republican Candidate for Congress (LaVar Christenson) spoke to me a few times, and urged me to vote for him secretly. I told him and the County Republican Party Chairman, that I tell the Republicans to secretly vote for me also, since I'm running for County Commissioner as a Democrat!

Today I attended the County Fair Parade in Hurricane. Although I didn't march in the Parade, I watched it, since I have alot of friends who were participating in it. Other than the loud noises from the Fire Engines, and the War-Mongering by various branches of the Military, it was a good Parade! Also, the kids sure liked the Candy that was thrown to them.

I will be at the Democratic Booth tonight also!

Friday, August 11, 2006

Political Yard Signs

Somebody stole my Political Yard Signs. That's alright because I'm just going to buy more.

Yesterday I was at the County Fair, from 7:30 PM-9:30PM. I handed out alot of Flyers, and a Bumper Sticker also. One of the Food Vendors at the Fair, told me that he would like to cater Refreshments to any Political Events that I might have. I was very pleased that many Young People who are barely old enough to vote, expressed an interest in my Campaign! One Fellow told me he couldn't vote for me because Democrats want to take People's Guns away from them!I told him that I wasn't going to take anyones Guns away!

It sure would be a Happier World if People would listen to less Conservative Talk Radio!

Thursday, August 10, 2006

County Fair

Yesterday I was at the Washington County Fair in Utah. I was Politicking at the Democratic Booth since I'm running for County Commissiioner. I was there from 6PM-9:30PM. I handed out alot of Campaign Flyers and had a good response. Also my Political Opponent was there, and appeared to be stunned when he saw my Yard Sign! I spoke with him briefly, but was unimpressed. The other Democrats at the Democratic Booth commented that the Fellow never seems to smile. I will be at the County Fair tonight, and Friday, and Saturday Night also!

Wednesday, August 09, 2006

Ned Lamont Wins

Ned Lamont deserves praise for his Victory! Congratulations Ned!

All the Spam I receive in my Email is annoying! I am not interested in Bogus Stock Picks, or Buying Viagra! It takes forever just to reach my Legitimate Email!

College Republicans

Republicans are frightened that they will lose Joe Lieberman in the Senate! Even College Republicans are planning on Campaigning for Joe Lieberman in the Democratic Primary! Please Connecticut Voters, Support Ned Lamont in the Democratic Primary! Joe Lieberman is no Democrat! The Primary is only 6 Days Away!

Tuesday, August 01, 2006

Politicking

Yesterday I spoke at a Political Event in Ivins, Utah. There were about 25 People there, and everyone of them said they want to help my Campaign! I gave away a Yard Sign, 4 Bumper Stickers, Several Flyers, and a Voter Registration Form!

Monday, July 31, 2006

Polygamy

Living in St. George, Utah, can be unusual at times! Although St. George, is primarily a Retirement Community, it is also located about 40 miles from the largest Polygamist Community in the United States. The Polygamists often Shop and Work in St. George,
and are easily noticed by their distinctive clothing. The Women wear long dresses, and
long hair, while the men wear long-sleave shirts, buttoned to the top button, even when
it's 110 degrees! Yesterday I was talking with a 20 year old Man, who was
excomunicated by his Polygamist Community (2 Years Ago)! How sad that this Young
Man isn't even allowed to speak to his Mother, Father, Brothers, or Sisters! It must
be terrible to be shunned by ones own family!

Saturday, July 29, 2006

Ned Lamont

The New York Times is endorsing Ned Lamont in the Democratic Primary against Joe Lieberman! Ned Lamont would be a great improvement!

Friday, July 28, 2006

Bumper Stickers

I ordered 25 more Bumper Stickers for my Political Campaign! They will be ready by Monday or Tuesday! Sorry I haven't posted a picture of them yet.

Tonight I am going to play Chess at the St. George Chess Center. It is an honor to play Chess at such a nice place, and with such good Competitors!

Lieberman

80 percent of Joe Lieberman's Campaign funds come from outside of Connecticut! How can Senator Lieberman claim to represent the People of Connecticut?

Samantha

My Mother took my Daughter Samantha back to her home (160 miles from here)! I am already missing her!

Yesterday Samantha and I attended a Protest in front of the Washington County Administration Building! Many people at the Event are opposed to the 2006 Washington County Growth and Conservation Act that would sell off 25,000 Acres of Bureau of Land Management Land, and give it to Land Speculators! My good friend "Earl", even rode his horse onto the lawn, where the Protest was being held. Earl told me that after my Daughter and I left, that he also rode his horse up the steps of the County Building! Earl was interviewed by the Salt Lake Tribune, and what he said to the reporter is in Today's Newspaper!

It looks like the Citizens of Connecticut are finally figuring out what a Benedict Arnold, that Senator Joe Lieberman truly is! : http://rifuture.org/blog/?p=2265.

Parade

Yesterday my daughter and I were in a Parade. The Parade was in Cedar City, Utah. I marched in the Parade in support of Congressman: Jim Matheson, and My daughter rode in the back of a Mustang Convertible. I would have advertised for my own Campaign for Washington County Commissioner, if Cedar City wasn't in Iron County. My daughter Samantha will be with me until tomorrow!

Lieberman

Joe Lieberman has got to go! I plead with the Citizens of Connecticut, to send Mr. Lieberman into Retirement! Senator Lieberman already is trailing his Democratic Opponent in Opinion Polls!

Tomorrow I am going to pick up my daughter (5 hour Round Trip)! It will be great to spend time with her! She will be staying with me until Tuesday!

Progress

I feel that my Campaign made some Progress this week! Yesterday I appeared at a Democratic Candidates Night in Springdale. The Audience was pleased that I'm opposed to the (2006) Washington County Growth and Conservation Act. This is a Bill that would be devastating to the Natural Beauty and Environment of Washington County, Utah!

The day before the Event in Springdale, I spoke at a Candidates Picnic in New Harmony, sponsored by the Utah Public Employees Association. Many of the People in this Group had been cheated out of their Pensions and Retirement Benefits. I was well received by this Group also!

St. George Chess Center

The St. George Chess Center will receive the honor of being named the top New Chess Center in the Country. Wow! Who new that I was a member of such a Prestigious Institution? Alan Crooks, the Owner of our Chess Center will receive this Award from the U.S. Chess Federation on August 13th!

An Inconvenient Truth

I saw An Inconvenient Truth at the Movie Theater on Saturday. Although I already knew much of the information on Global Warming that was explained in the Movie, it was still good to see that there are People like Al Gore, who are taking this issue seriously. He did a good job of explaining the dangers of Carbon Dioxide and Severe Climate Change!

All this talk about climate change is making me thirsty for a Root Beer Float! For my readers I provide this (Socially Conscious) Ice Cream Link: http://BenJerry.com.

4th of July

The 4th of July was a big day! First I marched in a Parade in the City of Hurricane, Washington County, Utah, in support of Congressman (Jim Matheson). It was fun, throwing Salt-Water Taffy to the Children on the Parade Route! After that, I went to Vernon Worthen Park in St. George. Don Miller and I, had reserved a booth there, for both of our Campaigns. People were so interested in my Campaign for County Commissioner, that I ran out of Bumper Stickers. Many Prominent Republicans told me that they plan on crossing Party Lines, to vote for me, even though I'm a Democrat! At about 2PM, Mike Small, an additional Democratic Candidate, also showed up at our booth and spoke to interested Citizens!

For those who dislike Joe Lieberman, here is the Website for his Democratic Opponent: http://NedLamont.com.

Honoring our Soldiers

Yesterday I attended a large event that honored some of the local Soldiers who have returned from Iraq. During the event, I handed out at least a dozen of my Campaign Bumper Stickers to Democratic Activists at the Democrats of Southern Utah booth! When I was eating my dinner at the event I saw Senator Robert Bennett a few tables down from where I was sitting. I finished my meal and went outside to watch a Sky-Diver parachuting downwards. When I turned around I noticed that I was standing next to Senator Orrin Hatch and Senator Bennett. I could feel more Evil emmanating from those two men, than if the Devil himself was standing next to me! Sensing a major disturbance in the force, I quickly returned to the Democrats of Southern Utah booth!

For the 4th of July, Don Miller a candidate for the State Legislature and myself, have reserved a booth at Vernon Worthen Park. We plan on handing out Campaign Literature, and registering New Voters!

Primary Elections

Yesterday was the Primary Elections in Washington County, Utah. The results: a 150 Million Dollar (School Bond) passed. This measure allows for more School Buildings to be built. However, a tax that was supposed to increase Teachers Salaries failed. The other item on the Ballot was a Republican Primary for County Commisioner (Seat B). It appears that Denny Drake won that Race by 190 Votes. I didn't vote in that race, since I'm not Republican. The Absentee Ballots still haven't been counted.

Hot

By the way, it's 110 degrees in St. George, Utah, today!

Cut and Run

The Republican Noise Machine keeps mentioning the phrase "Cutting and Running". Essentially they are calling anyone who disagrees with their Foreign Policy Objectives (Cowards)! How sad that the Republican Propaganda Machine can't think of anything better than School-Yard Taunts, in order to support their Misguided Policies!

Conservatives

Conservatives are interesting People. They say that they are good Christians, but then they turn around and say that America should drop Nuclear Bombs on any Country that we have a squabble with. Somehow that doesn't seem very Christian to me.

Soldiers

I have been asked to participate in a special program that honors the returning Soldiers on June 30th at the Dixie Center in St. George, Utah. It's going to be a big event that will be sponsored by both Democrats and Republicans.

Button Making Machine

I'm planning on buying a Button Making Machine for my Campaign. I haven't decided which Machine to purchase, but I would like to make at least 250 Buttons. Also it would be good to have a Button Making Machine on hand for all the Politicking that I do!

Wednesday, June 14, 2006

Political Buttons

What I need next for my Campaign, is some Political Buttons. I am trying to decide whether it would be better to buy the buttons already made, or to buy a button machine and make my own?

Establishment

It looks like the Political Establishment is frightened of me. I got word through the Grapevine, that powerful Political Factions want me to take down my Political Yard Signs. Their reasoning is that since I'm not running in the Primary on June 27th, (I skip straight through to the General Election in November) that I'm confusing the voters. Isn't that amazing? Well, I'm leaving my Signs up, and I'm also having 50 Bumper Stickers made up as well!

Yesterday, the U.S. Senate Candidate: Pete Ashdown, spoke at my Toastmasters Club. It sure is an honor to have such a good Candidate challenging Orrin Hatch, for the U.S. Senate!

Air Conditioning

I spoke too soon about Air Conditioning! The Air Conditioning went out in my Truck yesterday. My supervisor at work, thinks I probably just need some freon.

My mother took my daughter back home to Richfield, Utah. I am already missing Samantha!

Hot Weather

The weather sure has been Hot lately. In St. George, having an Air Conditioner for your car is not optional. My daughter Samantha is enjoying her visit. I even had my daughter help me put up some Yard Signs so she can learn about Politicking!

Political Campaign

My Political Campaign sure has created a wave of support. Everyone I talk to is deeply interested in my Campaign for County Commissioner, and say they plan on voting for me!

I am having a great visit with my daughter! I'm going to take her to the Chess Center tonight, so she can see how I spend my Tuesday and Friday Nights.

Good News! My Daughter will be visiting me for the next several days! The Bad News is that I will have to work much of the time that she is here! Grandma is going to help me with Samantha, while I'm at Work.

Political Yard Signs

This Weekend I put up many of My Political Yard Signs. Already People are telling me that they are noticing my Signs!

Tonight I'm going to play some Chess over at the St.George Chess Center. On June 10th I will be playing in my 2nd Chess Tournament. In my 1st Tournament I won $16 dollars!

On Sunday I signed Two Petitions that were opposed to Divine Strake. It really hit home when I saw a Beautiful Young Lady who had deformed hands and feet, passed down to her from her Mothers exposure to Nuclear Radiation!

Friday, May 26, 2006

Weekend

I get a 3 day weekend! The bad part is that I don't get paid for Memorial Day, since I haven't worked at my Job long enough. This will be a good weekend for putting up some more of my Political Yard Signs!

Dixie Chicks

3 years ago, the Lead Singer of The Dixie Chicks said she was ashamed of President Bush, and was black-balled by The Country/Western Music Establishment. Now, 3 years later, Reba McEntire, The Great Geo-Political Thinker, still has an axe to grind with the Dixie Chicks. Get over it Reba! Nobody cares about your petty squabbles! The Dixie Chicks were correct 3 years ago, when they said the were ashamed of our President, and they they are still correct, to this very day!

Movie Review

At long last, my Movie Review of The Da Vinci Code! I liked the Movie. Not because it was a Cinematic Masterpiece, but because it causes all of us to think about important Religious Questions! The Movie would have been much better however without all the sub-titles. Reading the Movie, instead of listening to it, became tedious!

Divine Strake

For those who don't know what Divine Strake is, let me inform you. The Bush Administration wants to create a 700 Ton Chemical Explosion, 150 miles West of St. George, Utah! The Chemicals they are planning on using for this explosion are the same ones that were used to level the Oklahoma City Federal Building! Already the Government has been forced to postpone this explosion by 3 weeks. Here in Utah, People are protesting, and speaking out against Divine Strake! The People of Utah deserve recognition for the Courage they are showing!

Today was the Washington County Convention in Utah. At the Convention I gave a speech about my Political Platform, since I'm running for County Commisioner. The night before the County Convention we had a Jefferson/Jackson Dinner. We actually had a larger turnout for The Dinner, than we had for the Convention. Salt Lake County Mayor (Peter Corroon) spoke at both events.

Make a difference

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people, so that you may work for justice, freedom, and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and turn their pain to joy.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done

Land Use Meeting

I attended part of the Land Use Meeting yesterday, here in Washington County, Utah. I handed out my Campaign Flyer, which was well received. I had some people say that they were already voting for me. I told them to take a flyer anyway, so that they would have information to share with their friends.

Today they told me at work, that they want to hire me on Permanently. They also eventually want me to get a Health Card, so I can drive some of the Company Trucks.

Land Use

Here in Washington County, Utah, we have one of the fastest growing areas in the Country. The problem is that the development that is taking place is completely uncontrollable! Dan Brown

This may be old news, but I discovered that Dan Brown has written a new book titled "The Solomon Key" that will be released this year. The new book is going to be about Freemasonry. I will have to read some of his books, so that I can critique his writing, for my readers.

Quote

Yesterday I made 100 Copies of the Grover Cleveland quote, coupled with my name and the Political Office I am running for (County Commissioner). I printed this on Pastel Green Cardstock, about the size of half a sheet of paper.

What is the use of being elected or re-elected unless you stand for something?

I'm on my way to the last session of the C.S. Lewis Study Group at Grace Episcopal Church.

Grover Cleveland

What is the use of being elected or re-elected unless you stand for something?

(Grover Cleveland)

I had 3 banners made yesterday. They look good.

I didn't go camping last night because it was raining too hard. Today however, I did go visit some Mountain Men, Women, and Children for a few hours. Although the weather was a bit cold, I had some Homemade Rootbeer served to me in an old-style bottle, that has a special clasping lid. Of course I had to keep the bottle. Also I had some Biscuts and Gravy, as well as the best tasting Beef Jerky that I have ever eaten. The noise from the Black Powder Rifles caused my ears to ring. If I were to attend something like this in the future, I would need to bring some ear-plugs. I saw a friend from work there, who had invited me to this event. He was there with his whole family. Leonard and his wife were dressed in pre-1840's Clothing. Here is a website to learn more about The Mountain Man Rendevous: http://AnasaziFreeTrappers.org.

My Mother is returning home on the Shuttle Bus. I will pick her up at 7 PM tonight.

Overtime

Some of us at work were sent home early today, since we have already worked alot of overtime this week. That is fine with me. All this working was cutting into my Politicking Time.

Today I am having 2 Banners made up. I am going to put up these Banners at the Democratic County Convention. They will announce to Convention Delegates that I'm running for Washington County Commissioner.

I'm still going Camping this Weekend, but if my Grandfather gets worse, I may have to travel to American Fork, Utah!

Citizenship

A Nation is only as strong as it's Citizens. We must continually ask ourselves whether we are doing all that we can do towards building a Just Society! Will American fragment into a place that People of Good Will no longer desire to live? So many people in America say they don't want to get involved because____. That blank symbolizes the infinite number of excuses that people use, instead of actually fullfilling their duties of Citizenship!

Flyers

My brochures ended up being flyers. I had 200 flyers printed on light-blue paper. I figure this will give me something to pass out the Democratic County Convention. Also I can hand out some of the flyers now!

Saturday, March 25, 2006

Brochure

Today I'm designing a campaign brochure. Since I'm running for County Commissioner, I will be distributing these brochures at the Democratic County Convention on April 29th, and also at the Democratic State Convention on May 13th.

Grassroots Politicking

A person that I met at the Precinct Caucuses, came up to me today and said that he is ready to take a Leadership Role in the Democratic Party! That is what we need! People who are ready to stand up, and assist in the betterment of our Country!

Wednesday, March 22, 2006

Caucuses

I went to the Caucuses yesterday. I was asked to help out with some traditionally low turn out Precincts. Out of 19 Precincts, we had only 17 people show up! I gave a small presentation on behalf of Senate Candidate, Pete Ashdown. Also I told everyone about my own candidacy for County Commissioner.

When I played Chess yesterday, one of the fellows that I play Chess with, had laminated the article about me, that was in the paper. He gave this to me as a present, and has offered to assist my campaign financially!

One of the Guys at the place that I work is a hardcore Republican. However, he was so impressed that I'm running for Political Office, that he posted the article about me in his home. He said that his Wife didn't like this, but that he told her that the article was about one of the Guys at work, and that he was leaving the article posted in his home!

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

Chess

I'm going to play some Chess at the St. George Chess Center for about 45 minutes, and then I'm going to attend the Democratic Precinct Caucuses at a local Middle School!

Monday, March 20, 2006

Pete Ashdown

Although I have previously mentioned this, Pete Ashdown is running for the U.S. Senate here in Utah. Unless my readers want to endure another 6 years of Orrin Hatch, I suggest we all do everything we can to help Pete! For more information: http://PeteAshdown.org.

In my own campaign for County Commissioner, I will be running against a 3 term incumbent, as well as an Independent Candidate. I won't have to run in a Primary, so I am focusing on the General Elections in November.

Tomorrow will be the Precinct Caucuses here in Utah. We will be meeting between 7-8 PM. I will be helping to Supervise 19 Precincts in St. George. Although I mentioned this information in a previous post, I think it bears repeating. Grassroots Politicking is where it's at! I look forward to feeling the energy from the people who attend the caucuses!

C.S. Lewis

I'm on my way to a C.S. Lewis Study Group. I have attended two sessions so far, and have three to go.

Earlier today I attended a Bahai Study Group.

Yesterday I went to a Library Book Sale, and bought several interesting books for $2.50.

2006 Elections

Yesterday was an eventful day! The filing closed for those who are running for office in Utah. Here in Washington County, Democrats (myself included) are running for two County Commissioner Seats. At the State Legislature level, all three districts in this County will be contested by Democratic Candidates. Even the Mainstream Media is amazed by the Political Turmoil taking place in Utah! On Tuesday I will be helping with the Precinct Caucuses. Jim Guard and I, will be supervising 19 Precincts at a Middle School.

Book

Even though I haven't written very much of my Book yet, I am very excited about it. My plan is to write a short book about Progressive Politics, so that aspiring Political Activists can receive a bit of mentoring. My book should also be interesting to those who already have some experience in Politics.

The Newspaper Article about me appeared on page #2 of the Spectrum!

Also I am still writing a Book about Progressive Politics. I will be Self- Publishing this book.

Miracle

Sometimes Miracles occur! However, we tend to look for natural explanations, so that we don't become to overwhelmed by what's happening directly in front of us! The Current Miracle that I'm referring to, is happening in Washington County, Utah. Where I live, the filing date for Political Office this year is March 7th---March 17th. When March 17th rolls around, look at how many Democrats will have filed for County Offices, and the State Legislature. If after careful study, you don't believe this is a Miracle, than you have more humbug in you than Ebeneezer Scrooge!

Monday, March 13, 2006

Brian Passey

Today I was interviewed by Brian Passey, the best reporter at The Spectrum newspaper. He is going to put an article in the local Newspaper, about my bid for County Commissioner. My Mother doesn't know that I'm running for Political Office, so I hope she doesn't faint when she reads about it in the Newspaper!

Yesterday I went to my C.S. Lewis Study Group for the 2nd time. They made me pretend that I was one of the Characters in one of his books.

Candidate

Yesterday I filed to run for County Commissioner (Seat A). I am running against a longtime incumbent. The filing period will be open for another week. Then I will know if I am running in a Primary, or if I will simply be running in the General Election!

Elections

Tomorrow I will be filing to run for the office of County Commissioner.

Iran

Why can't the Bush Administration leave Iran alone? Mr. Cheney comes within an inch of killing someone with a Shotgun, yet he feels the need to beat the War-Drum against Iran! It is an interesting World, we live in.

Progressive Politics

The Title of the book I'm writing is: Progressive Politics. The sections will be: Blogging, Grassroots Politicking, and Social Justice.

Yesterday I went to the Lecture on C.S. Lewis. The lecture was good, and the lecturer encouraged questions and comments from the audience. Also the Potluck was quite good. Especially the desserts!

Laptop Computer

I received my Laptop Computer in the mail yesterday. It works! However, I don't have it hooked up to the Internet yet.

I attended a Bahai Study Group this morning. I have been meeting with this group for several weeks. We have almost finished studying a manual, that was published by The Ruhi Institute.

Tonight I am going to visit Grace Episcopal Church. They are having a Study Group this entire month about C.S. Lewis, and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Being somewhat familiar with C.S. Lewis's writings, I thought I would go down there, and give everyone my two-cents.

Quote

He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; Who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it, Whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's Beauty or failed to express it; Who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; Whose life was an inspiration; whose memory a benediction.

This year I am going to write a Book! I will let everyone know what it will be about, when I figure that out myself.

Blogging Conference

There will be an important Blogging Conference that will be held July 14-16th, in New Jersey. There will not be an admission fee, but the information that will be learned there will be invaluable. I will be posting more information about this Conference, as the time gets closer!

Sands of Time

Lives of Great Men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime
And departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time.

Jefferson/Jackson Dinner

It has come to my attention that some people think that I should mention the price of the Jefferson/Jackson Dinner that will be held in Washington County, Utah. The price for a ticket is $35. This includes Prime Rib with all the trimmings, Speeches, and Entertainment as well. Although this Dinner is primarily for Southern Utah Democratic Activists, there is no reason that others can't attend. However since we are limited to 400 seats, I recommend that people buy their tickets soon!

Europe

Europe seems to be an interesting place. A fellow (David Irving) will spend a minimum two years in jail for denying that The Holocaust happened, but when Religious Cartoons result in the death and injury of numerous people, that is called Freedom of Expression.

Good News

Here in Washington County, Utah we are going to have a big Jefferson/Jackson Dinner, on April 28th. This will be the night before the Democratic County Convention. We are still putting all the details together, but we do know that we will be having our Prime Rib Dinner in The Garden Room, at the Dixie Center. We will only be able to host 400 People at the Dinner, so I know I will be buying my ticket early!

Filtering

I often access the Internet, via the Public Library. So I probably notice something that many people who have their own computer, never do. Many Public Libraries have filtered the Internet beyond the realm of Common Sense. It is not my intention to shock my Fellow Library Patrons with what I view on the Internet. However, when I have to get Library Personel to help me over-ride the filters, so that I can search for "Paul Goodman" on the Internet, I think the concept of filtering has been taken beyond what is reasonable.

Here is a Religious Link that deserves a visit: http://mysticmontage.blogspot.com. Also here is a Political Blog that started about the same time as mine: http://nebraskanliberation.blogspot.com. Although I have previously made a link to Nebraskan, it was quite awhile ago, and I am embarrased to admit that I have fallen behind in reading his Blog.

Pamela Willeford

Who is this Pamela Willeford? Until today, I didn't know she was the Ambassador of Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. Now it turns out that she was on this fake hunting expedition also. Some people are speculating that she may have had a Romantic Relationship with the Vice-President. I will let inquiring minds do the research on that. What troubles me however, is why didn't the Vice-President pay the $7 for a hunting tag? Which leads me to ask another question. When Arnold Schwarzenhager got into a Motorcycle Accident, why didn't he have a Motorcycle Endorsement? It seems there is a separate form of Justice for Republican Officials!

John Brown's Speech

Unfortunately John Brown's Speech: http://education.ucdavis.edu/new/stc/lesson/socstud/railroad/benet.htm is as relevant today, as it was in 1859.

Fake Hunting

It seems the Vice President can't even hunt like a normal person. He goes hunting for quail that are domesticated animals. He also is in such poor health that he has to have an ambulance stationed nearby, in case he has another Heart-Attack. He only goes hunting with Fellow Multi-Millionaires. He is so incompetent that he shoots another person, instead of a bird. He doesn't even have the proper Hunting Tags, in order to go hunting in Texas. He hides the hunting accident for 18 hours, untill someone else breaks the story. The Secret Service prevents Local Officials from investigating the incident. Can you imagine what would have happened if Al Gore had done something like this?

Now for something completely different. I would like my readers to tell me what they think of John Brown? Yes, the John Brown who tried to help free the Slaves, prior to the Civil War?

Although I still use Blogger, I have stopped using the Google Search Engine. It looks like others are becoming disenchanted with Google: http://noluv4google.com/article.php?list=type&type=92.

Spiritual Longing

I believe there is a Spiritual Longing in the World. There is something that people are searching for, and they can't quite put their finger on it. Sometimes this noble impulse is distorted by those who are able to persuade people to things that are wrong, and sometime downright Evil.

Rocky Anderson

For those who don't know who Rocky Anderson is, he happens to be the Mayor of Salt Lake City. Although I live 300 miles from Salt Lake City, his Political Influence is felt even out here. This might surprise some people, but Salt Lake City is one of the 100 most Liberal Cities in the Country! Rocky Anderson even had the guts to lead a protest against President Bush, when Mr. Bush visited Utah! That is why I wanted to let everyone know about Rocky

American Soldiers

When I read the Newspaper in the morning, usually one of the first topics that I turn to is the information/propaganda about the turmoil in Iraq and Afghanistan. Although I am not a Pacifist, I am deeply concerned about the intentions of our Commander in Chief. There are times when War is justified, but I am sickened by the Powerful Cabal that has misused our Military. Another thing that troubles me, is the Propaganda Machine (i.e. The Mainstream Media) that enables this attempt at Empire Building to continue. Let those of us who are opposed to this unjust use of force, being carried out by our Government, resolve to redouble our efforts to bring sanity back to America!

Here are some facts about what is actually happening in Iraq and Afghanistan: http://icasualties.org.

Iran

I hope my gut instincts are wrong, but I have a feeling that an artificially contrived crisis is brewing. I sincerely believe that unless the American People can shake off the shackles of Mainstream Media Propaganda, that American Soldiers will be sent to fight in Iran.

Glenn Greenwald

I have been having some trouble accessing this blog, but if you can get through on this link: glenngreenwald.blogspot.com there is important information on the Alberto Gonzales Hearings.

Alberto Gonzales

Alberto Gonzales has got to go! Here is a fellow who should never have been confirmed Attorney General in the first place, and he conducts himself as if he and the President are above the Law!

Here is a good website for Liberals to keep on top of the technology that we are going to need, if we are going to beat the Conservative Noise Machine: TechnologyReview.com

Today

Today has been a relaxing day. I discussed some Bahai Principles with some members of that faith, and after that did some organizing on my storage space. Some people say that if you eliminate clutter, that you have more energy. Since I have begun to reduce my clutter, I do feel a little better.

I am probably the only one in America who hasn't been watching the Super Bowl. After I finish blogging I will check the score.

I have been feeling especially Conscious of the the Environment the last few weeks. Maybe it is because the weather has been so beautiful here in Southern Utah.

More Difficulties

Blogger is acting up again. The only way I can access my own blog is through blogger itself, and even then I can only view the editing section. Very Strange!

Technical Difficulties

I had technical difficulties with Blogger yesterday, so I lost my post. Hopefully today will go better!

I was playing Chess until midnight at the St.George Chess Center. Tuesday and Friday Nights are my Chess Nights.

I was looking at Pete Ashdown's Wiki, or Website, or whatever it is. For those who don't know who Pete is, he is running for the Senate against Orin Hatch. He said some vandals stole his 80 year old Fathers Campaign Sign, off the top of his car. Why doesn't that surprise me?

Fashion

I was visiting a blog today, when I came across a post about Cindy Sheehan. My automatic assumption was that the people in that particular blog would be praising Mrs. Sheehan, for standing up for her convictions. Instead it was a petty discussion over whether Mrs. Sheehan had proper fashion sense. 2245+ American Soldiers are killed, and people are debating Fashion Sense! Sometimes I worry about My Country, when I see such nonsense on the Internet!

Speech

My speech in Toastmasters went well yesterday. The title of my speech was "Make the Butterflies fly in formation." The speech was about dealing with nervousness when speaking in Public. I was supposed to speak for 5-7 minutes. No-one timed me, so I just tried to estimate the amout of time I was speaking, since I felt it would be wrong to continually be looking at my watch.

I am still in amazement that Cindy Sheehan was arrested for wearing a T-Shirt! I guess when you are persona non grata with the Bush Administration, that is considered to be a crime.

Some people are wondering why Google's stock went down. However, God revealed to me that he/she/it is punishing Google for allowing Censorship in China. I no longer use the Google Search Engine, and will stop using Google controlled Blogger, unless Google gets there act together!

T-Shirts

T-Shirts seem to be powerful merchandise these days. Just ask Cindy Sheehan who was arrested http://truthout.org/docs_2006/020106Z.shtml for wearing one! For those who aren't afraid of protesting against tyranny, please contact me for a Social Justice Coalition T-Shirt. I will be producing and mailing them at cost.

For those who don't think that any Progressive People live inside the State of Utah, here is your chance to think outside the box: http://democratsofsouthernutah.org, http://utdemocrats.org.

If you loathe Senator Orin Hatch, here is your chance to contribute to his downfall http://pashdown.org.

Tonight I am going to give a speech in Toastmasters. It will be an Advanced Level Speech from the Public Relations Manual.

Press Conference

I have returned from the Wayne Holland Meeting. It turned out to be a bit of a Press Conference. One of the Local TV Stations was there. There was about 25 People in attendance. We bought a small plate of food for $5 each. Someone at the meeting said that Bill Press is supposed to be the Keynote Speaker at our State Convention this year. They said they are also trying to get another famous speaker, but they don't want to say who it is until it is confirmed.

Wayne Holland

I have to run since "Wayne Holland", the Utah State Democratic Party Chair is going to be meeting with a group of us at The Painted Pony Restaurant in St. George, Utah.

Podcasting

Although I am still not Podcasting, I think that Liberal Minded People should check into it. Do you want Podcasting dominated by Rush Limbaugh Ditto-Heads, or Thoughtful, and Interesting People?

Today I drove up to Cedar City, Utah. I have been walking around the Southern Utah University Campus. Can you believe they actually give away the New York Times Newspaper for free at this Campus. I normally don't read the New York Times, except for an occasional article that catches my eye on the Internet. With people like David Brooks writing for them, I generally consider them to be too Conservative!

I am putting together a Business Plan for a Nonprofit Organization. I will let my readers know more about this, in the Near-Future.

Cindy Sheehan

Cindy Sheehan is considering running against Diane Feinstein, for the Democratic Nomination for the Senate. I hope she does! Even though her chances of actually winning the Democratic Nomination are according to my reckoning, at least 10,000 to 1, I believe the attempt might put some backbone into the Democratic Party! Also Mrs. Sheehan is planning on protesting over by Mr. Bush's Ranch in Texas, in April. I hope that many people will join her in her noble effort to save the lives of American Soldiers.

Now on a different note, here is the Website for the Bloggies: http://2006.bloggies.com.

Web Beacons

I don't use Yahoo, but I have just received word about the Web Beacons they use. It seems that if someone is part of a Yahoo User Group, that Yahoo not only tracks that person while they are on Yahoo, but also on outside Websites as well. Scary, isn't it! Is possible for a Search Engine to exist without selling out to the Establishment?

T-Shirt

I produced a T-Shirt yesterday (with the help of a local shop) that says, Social Justice Coalition in White Letters, on a Navy Blue Background. It looks quite good! When I get more money, I will sell this type of T-Shirt at cost, to those who are interested.

I am recommending two blogs that are written by the same person: http://rocrebelgranny.blogspot.com/, http://isamericaburning.blogspot.com/.

Best Friends

I had dinner with several people yesterday who work for the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. This seems like a good organization that deserves support. Here is the website: http://BestFriends.org.

I saw Brokeback Mountain on Saturday. Although it isn't the type of Movie, I would normally see, I chose to see it in order to financially reward the Movie Theater in Southern Utah that actually had the guts to show it!

New Job

I was out of work, for 3 hours yesterday. I got a new Job working for a Tile and Marble company.

For those who are interested in Privacy Issues, I recommend: http://Epic.org.

I still haven't seen Brokeback Mountain. I am going to see it tonight.

Friday, January 20, 2006

Layed Off

I got layed off today, which is a nice way of saying I got fired.

Today us Democrats in Washington County, Utah, are planning on seeing the Movie "Brokeback Mountain", in order to get on the Conservatives Last Nerve.

I approve of Google standing up to the Bush Administration on Privacy Issues. I just wish they were as courageous with the Chinese Government.

There is more turmoil in the Middle East. Iran is withdrawing their money from European Banks, and is also considering reducing their output of Oil.

Impromptu Speaking

I gave my Impromptu Speech yesterday. When I was giving my speech, I thought nobody liked it. However, after my speech everyone complimented me, and said I did a good job. The topic I spoke about was Science Fiction. That was the topic that was chosen from the 5 strips of paper. If you are wondering about the strips of paper, please read yesterdays post.

One interesting thing about the State of Utah, is that Utah has the highest Bankruptcy Rate in the Nation. I'm not sure why this is. I like to badger Conservatives by telling them it's due to lack of Family Planning.

Toastmasters International

I'm on my way to a Toastmasters Meeting. I will be be giving a 5-7 minute impromptu speech. According to my Manual, I will write down 5 different subjects on different slips of paper that I am Knowledgeable about, and give those topics to my Speech Evaluator. Then my Speech Evaluator will select at random, which of those topics I should speak on, to the group. Wish me Luck!

It is essential that Progressives do well in this years Mid-Term Elections. Please note that Joe Lieberman is not a Progressive Candidate.

Although I have never had any personal dealings with Heifer International: http://Heifer.org, they seem to be a good Organization. That is why I am posting their Website for the 2nd time.

Study Group

On Sunday I attended a Bahai Study Group for the 2nd time. They gave me some new Literature to read, but I haven't looked at it yet. When I attend their meetings, they provide a very nice lunch.

On Sunday Evening and Monday Evening I attended Democratic Organizational Meetings for Washington County in Utah. We are trying to recruit Democratic Candidates for this area.

I will be attending a Seminar sponsored by Cindy Clemens on January 28th. Cindy Clemens is a Life Coach.

EMail

I finally got caught up on my EMail! At least temporarily.

I have been reading a book that was written by Cindy Clemens. I think it's called: Life is a Do-Over. Anyway I purchased the book directly from the Author, several days ago, and am impressed with her ideas.

Samuel Alito

I have been listening to some of the Samuel Alito Confirmation Hearings the last few days on NPR. Although I personally don't want him to be confirmed, I think we should be asking an even more important question. Why should members of the Supreme Court be confirmed for life? Thomas Jefferson suggested that Justices should only serve for 12 years, and I believe that 10 years is sufficient. I got in an argument with a fellow yesterday over this very issue. He told me that what I was saying was an opinion, and that what he was saying was fact. He got a smug expression on his face, when he told me this. However, he almost fainted when I told him that what he thought were facts, were his Personal Opinions also. I try to be nice, but some people make it difficult!

Monday, January 09, 2006

Heifer International

I keep hearing good things about Heifer International! Everyone from Barbara Kingsolver, to Business Magazines are praising them. I will definitely keep learning more about this organization, since they want to help the poor, and also encourage people to farm Organically! Here is there Website: http://Heifer.org.

Yesterday I attended a Bahai Study Group. I told them that although I feel they have alot of good Ideas, I don't think I would ever join their Religion, since they discourage Political Involvement. I do however plan to attend their study group, next Sunday.

Tom Delay

Wow! It has sure taken Tom Delay a while to confront Reality! He finally resigned from his Majority Leader post, only when Fellow Republicans circulated a petition, asking him to resign. If Tom Delay knew how to do anything besides laundering money, he would resign from Congress also.

Even though I'm Technologically Illiterate, I can see that Podcasting, and similar Technologies are the wave of the future. Although I don't Podcast yet, I would recommend that us Progressively-Minded People take advantage of these New Technologies to get our Message out!

11 Soldiers Killed

11 American Soldiers were killed in a single day in Iraq. When will the American Public wake up and realize that our troops are on a suicidal mission. Let's bring the troops home now!

The Toastmasters Meeting went great yesterday. We had lively conversation, and did some impromptu speaking.

Toastmasters Club

I'm on my way to a Toastmasters Meeting. Although I have written about Toastmasters before on this Blog, I want my readers to know that Toastmasters is not only a great way to improve your Public Speaking Skills, but also a great way to improve ones Leadership Skills as well.
I believe that those of us with Progressive Ideas, can increase the likelihood of getting these important thoughts across to others by learning what the Toastmasters Club has to offer.

Daughter

I went to see my daughter yesterday. I takes over 2 hours to drive to her house. This is much better than when she lived in Seattle. We had a great visit.

How about Jack Abramoff? I bet a lot of people are squirming, in Congress. President Bush Even accepted $100,000 from Mr. Abramoff, according to what I heard on NPR today.

I'm probably going to go to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Saturday. I'm not sure how much the Tickets will cost.
