Father Sun, Sister Moon

Father Sun, Sister Moon; is an excellent movie that I saw several years ago, about the life of Saint Francis. Saint Francis was so different from those who equate spirituality with prosperity. To the best of my knowledge, Saint Francis never criticized the Teletubbies either.

Here are some interesting blogs: http://hobbyjustice.blogspot.com, and http://nebraskanliberation.blogspot.com.

Francis is probably my favorite catholic saint, next to Joan of Arc of course. I saw the Zefirilli movie about his life, plus another really good lower budget film about him a couple of years ago. I remember how disgusted he was by the imperialist, materialistic bent of the christianity of his day, and so he went about teaching a better way to live. He taught mostly by example and avoided all material comforts, even when he became close to the pope himself. A truer man if there ever was one.

He was one of those who comes along only every few hundred years, like Gandhi or Christ.

Yesterday, I included Father Sun, Sister Moon; in my profile as one of my favorite movies. Then I clicked on that link, and found out that there are many other bloggers who like that Movie also. I'm glad that you are impressed with Saint Francis as well.

If the religious right were ever to bring forth a man like that, it would completely upheave america's religious landscape. Imagine someone becoming as famous as him in a day of no media, and by just living a truly christian lifestyle! I'm sure the stigmata helped too, but that's another story.

I'll say it again, our side needs men like Gandhi and Francis again to turn this world around. They are truly gifts to the human race, and I can only hope that I will see one fulfill his/her destiny in my lifetime.

I agree, it would be helpful if a Saint Francis, or a Ghandi, appeared. Untill that happens, we will have to do the best that we are capable of. Sometimes I think that maybe a person of that calibur is already with us, but we don't know it because he/she is drowned out by the Mass Media.
